Camille Petty, RN
Nursing Care Coordinator

Camille Petty has been a Nursing Employee at Bellevue for 50 years starting as a student nurse in 1954. She began her career as a staff nurse in Psychiatry. Spent 32 years as a Head Nurse and is currently in her position as Nursing Care Coordinator for 21 South since 1991.

21 South is the children's unit. Her years of experience and commitment to working with children with psychiatric disorders serve as a testimony to her ideals of duty and dedication as a care provider. Her particular brand of style as a leader serves as a source of inspiration to the nursing staff she works with as well as to her peers.

She has kept the staff of 21 South focused on provision of excellent care to the children, by maintaining an environment striving for excellent expectations and standards. She accomplishes this through consistent educational in-service programs and continuous communication of new trends in their care.

Camille Petty is energetic in her quest for new knowledge. She is abreast of new challenges as well as creative in her responses to these challenges. She is a leader who continuously encourages self-development among staff and peers. This is very evident in her own role.

A recipient of numerous recognition awards for leadership and clinical excellence, it is appropriate to recognize Ms. Petty for her excellent contribution to patient care, staff development and dedication, upon her 50 year of service at Bellevue Hospital Center.

In speaking with Camille she started in 1954 as an employee and student nurse at Bellevue School of Nursing. Her original goal was to become a Labor and Delivery Nurse. Upon graduation she started her nursing career in child psychiatry.

Throughout her years her accomplishments include the creation of a therapeutic autistic nursery in 1959. This service is currently available for children ages 2-11. She is a requested nursing presenter related to the management of children in a restraint free milieu.

Camille Perry is chair of the Nursing Practice Committee since 1985 and Executive Chair of the Employee’s Advisory Council since 1994 at Bellevue Hospital Center.
