Denise Benford, RN, BSN
Public Health Nurse

Denise Benford RN, graduated from City College with a BSN in 1981. She began her Nursing Career as a staff nurse at Mount Sinai Hospital in the Neurology Unit. She was soon promoted to the Head Nurse of the Hemodialysis Unit because of her superior leadership and administrative skills. Ms. Benford worked for the Department of Health until it came under the New York City Health & Hospitals Corporation.

The “Core” of Public Health Nursing in the community involves preventive, restorative and educational support to families in crisis in the community. Ms. Benford believes it is much easier to prevent illness than to treat illnesses. Through gathering statistics, tracking and trending data for communicable diseases and follow-up of all patients under her care. She maintains and builds relationships to assist the family in crisis, which she believes is the framework for ensuring an intact and healthy community. Ms. Benford is a role model, resource person, motivator and that is why she is highly respected by her colleagues. Ms. Benford is a conscientious, dedicated, caring Nurse who is love by her patients and their families. She has the ability to rise to the challenges and triumph in making a difference for her patients. The Nursing Administration salutes Ms. Benford.
